Chapter 1- Intro, Our First Meeting

Sherry woke up to her buzzing alarm on the dashboard beside her. She pushed the 'off' button, sat up straight and turned to look at the window: out to the world.
She smiled at the blue sky. Because it always reminded her that human beings were all on the same level. No matter how earthly rich one is. She closed her eyes, bracing herself to face yet another day of havoc in school.

"Its gonna be alright," she cheered silently "I'm strong."

Before she left her house to go to school, she took one last look at her house. The house without a family. Without her parents.
Turning to reality, she breathed in deeply and sighed just as long.

"Good morning world!" she smiled.

At the school entrance, people avoided her. At the hallways, people avoided her. At her classroom, people avoided her.

She sat down at her seat, calm and composed. She's gotten used to the sudden silence whenever she entered a place. As if right on cue, her friend jumped into the scene to soothe the atmosphere.
Her friend's name was Lyan. She was the second most popular/pretty/sporty/smartest/ quirky/ friendliest person in my year. Everyone liked her. She had always maintained her grades, which most of the time ranks about 2nd-5th in the year in academics and oftens represent school in tournaments and competitions nationwide.

Everyone is her friend. There isn't a person that doesn't know her. Sherry envies her. Sure she isn't the best. But she was darn right good enough.

Lyan nudged Sherry at the arm with her elbow " Hey there, what's up?" she exclaimed, loud enough for the whole class to hear.

Sherry nodded, pushed her glasses up and gulped. "er.. okay. I guess."

"Aw, why are you always just 'okay'?" Lyan pouted, her eyes shimmering with questions. Sherry tried looking away but Lyan put her long and tender hands on both sides of Sherry's cheeks and turned her back to look at her.

"Listen up Sherry!," she exclaimed once again "One day, your life is gonna change! One day you're gonna be SO MUCH MORE better off than the people who isolate you. You're gonna show 'em who's boss!"

'Oh. Did I mention her courage? And her loud mouth? I probably didn't, didn't I?'

Sherry shook her head, then laugh her statement off. " Thanks Lyan. Really. But you know it isn't gonna help. We've been through this. And this must've been the 100th time you've told me this same thing." she said softly

"but Sherry..." she trailed off.
The teacher was in class. She blew her sharp whistle (which she does almost everyday) and the class turned almost immediately silent.

Lyan returned to her seat. A little upset, again for the 100th time (yes, I've been counting)

"Today we have a new student. He's a bright student, really..." she trailed on and on and on but I never heard a thing. Another bright student meant an extra threat to my already damaged reputation in school. So I don't really give a damn. Trust me, its hard to get used to things. Especially bad things.

The class started murmuring and whispering. I turned my head to my side. The girl beside me took out her phone and started texting a message. And soon, the whole class had their phones' on. I lifted my eyebrow curiously at everyone.
'What on earth is going on?'

"My name is Kyler. Kyler Soh" he introduced himself.
The girls squealed and the boys looked interested.
I, myself, decided to take a look at my latest threat.
My eyes widened as the world around me vanished.
The guy wasn't what I'd expected him to be.

Sure he was hot. But I couldn't sense arrogance in him or the act of 'cool-ness' . He was normal. And when I looked at him, he looked back at me. With eyes that seemed to make my heart pound twice as fast. Make pink hot flushes rise up to my cheeks. Make me feel like we're the only two people in the world.

He changed my world. But I never knew, at the time, what it really meant to fall in love with him.
